The Customs Department will auction imported consignments lying at Lahore Dryport without clearance for over 60 days.
Collector Customs, Lahore Mohammad Raza Baqar told APP here on Friday that the department would auction them after a one-month's notice.
He said that importers had already been warned to get their imported consignments thoroughly examined and inspected within stipulated period and pay duties.
He said items left for longer than 60 days would be confiscated and auctioned after serving one-month notice. He said Deputy Collector, Customs has been specifically directed to monitor the performance of principal appraisers and appraisers daily and ensure that no unjustifiable delay in clearance takes place.
He said officials found involved in intentionally delaying the clearance of consignments will not only be suspended but dismissed from service under removal of service ordinance, 2002.
