The exports from Sialkot during 2003 were decreased by 1.55 percent as compared to the previous year.
According to Sialkot Dry Port sources, there is a decrease of 8.94 percent in sports and 39.46 percent in gloves sectors.
During 2002 exportable items, like sports goods, gloves, leather goods, surgical items, sportswear and miscellaneous amounting to Rs 687.22 million were exported from Sialkot whereas in 2003 the export volume of these items amounted to Rs 676.55 million that indicates decrease in export of 1.55 percent.
According to these sources, 11.85 percent increase has been registered in the export of leather goods, 1.51 in surgical, 10.28 percent in sportswear and 13.41 percent in knives export during 2003.
SPRING PLANTATION: As many as 0.2million plants would be planted during the spring plantation campaign in Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils of Sialkot district.
The Forest Department has established its sale points at tehsil headquarter level to facilitate the public.
Meanwhile, both City and District governments have adopted measures for making the spring tree plantation drive a complete success.
