Pace of development work on different projects of Tameer-e-Karachi Programme (TKP) has remained so far satisfactory and work on 18 projects is in progress whereas as modalities are being finalised on other projects proposed from different stakeholders and towns, says Progress Report of TKP up to March 2004.
It says that management targets have been achieved by constituting Steering Committee and Participatory Board of TKP and project management cell has been established to expedite work on the programme.
Whereas town wise monitoring groups have started functioning to oversee progress of TKP projects in each town and development and consultants have been short listed for different projects, it adds.
It reveals that schemes have been identified in road infrastructure, flyover and bridges, drainage, sewerage, water supply and solid waste management sector.
According to progress report Water and Sanitation Department has submitted 256 schemes, 182 for sewerage and 74 for water supply whereas Works and Services Department has submitted a list of 35 projects. To date 14 towns have sent their proposals comprising of 275 schemes.
"There are 23 projects are from road sector, 6 projects of flyovers/bridges, one project of drainage, two projects of sewerage and three projects of water supply on which development work is in progress whereas a concept clearance paper for establishment of Garbage Transfer Station has been sent to Planning and Development Department government of Sindh for approval," it mentions.
It says that City Government will under take 35 projects in the current financial year at an estimated cost of Rs 2092.42 million and work is in progress on 18 out of these projects. Out of remaining 17 projects, work order has been awarded for two schemes, 13 are in the process of tendering and 2 are in the process of planning.
There are a total number of 182 schemes proposed in sewerage sector at an estimated cost of Rs 4,223 million whereas proposed schemes for water supply are 74 at an estimated cost of Rs 1,663 million.
Proposed schemes presented from 14 towns are 275 and total cost estimated for these schemes stands at Rs 3949.176 million.
