A meeting chaired by Industries and Production Minister Liaqat Jatoi on Saturday reviewed the affairs of National Textile University, Faisalabad.
Secretary, Industries and Production, Javed Ashraf Hussain, Anjum M Saleem Pro-Chancellor, National Textile University, M Ismail Khurram, Arif Saeed, members of the board of governors and some senior officers of the Ministry attended the meeting.
The Minister was briefed by the Pro-Chancellor and members of the board of governors about University situation due to strike by students. The meeting asked the board to address the concerns of the students and teachers.
The decisions to reduce the tuition fee and hostel charges, decreasing the number of self-financing seats, giving representation to teachers on the board and executive committee of the University were appreciated by the Minister.
The Minister took serious notice of the delay in resumption of classes by students and teachers.
The management was advised to take necessary administrative measures to ensure early resumption of classes.
The Minister told the participants that the government was following the policy of privatisation and decentralisation, and management of the University would stay with Aptma as part of the declared policy.
