M/s Nagaria Textile Mills Pvt Ltd, our esteemed member complained that fruit vendors and vegetable merchants, occupied the surroundings of the mill on February 21, 2004 which is unauthorised and illegal.
M/s Nagaria Textile is one of the most prominent exporters of Pakistan, which earns valuable foreign exchange for the country to contribute to the economy of the country.
As being an export-oriented organisation foreign buyers frequently visit the said company, the presence of these fruit and vegetable merchants portray the picture of vegetable market rather than an export-oriented company.
M/s Nagaria Textile pays every year a heavy amount to the Federal, provincial and city government in the shape of numerous taxes and duties. There is already lack of basic infrastructure and other civic facilities.
It is difficult to survive with dearth of facilities and further illegal occupation of fruit and vegetable merchants at the surroundings of M/s Nagaria Textile, which have specifically increased the miseries of the mill and other industries located on Mehran Highway, because other units also use the highway for transportation of their goods.
Moreover, surroundings of M/s Nagaria Textile are extremely sensitive because diversified underground lines such as heavy gas supply line, high-tension electric power cables, underground telephone cables, and water & sewerage lines are laid, which cater not only to the needs of Landhi Industrial Area but also the Export Processing Zone.
The existence of these fruit and vegetable merchants in this area is not only a hazard for themselves but also might entail any mishap.
Keeping in view all the above facts it is requested that the fruit and vegetable merchants removed to some other appropriate place in order to avoid any future mishap indicated above, in the best interest of the merchants as well as the industries located on Mehran Highway.
