Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Sunday said the government would work for the welfare and progress of the masses in collaboration with allied parties.
He was speaking at the Horse and Cattle Show, organised by the District Government Sahiwal on the occasion of "Jashn-e-Baharan."
The Prime Minster reached the venue, flanked by the Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool, Defence Minister, Rao Sikander Iqbal, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid and Minister for Natural Resources Nauraiz Shakoor.
Jamali said such festivals play a significant role in narrowing the gap between rural and urban societies.
Prime Minister said policies of his government aimed at economic prosperity and wellbeing of the masses and reiterated that the government's prime objective is to serve the people.
Jamali further said a stable and strong Pakistan is in place today under the banner of the Pakistan Muslim League headed by Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain.
"Inshallah, Pakistan will continue to exist as strong country, as we are determined to defend it", Jamali added. He assured the demands made during the welcome address, would be duly considered by his government and issued on the spot directives for establishing an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Sahiwal, which he said would go a long way in opening new vista of boosting commercial and trade activities in the area.
Jamali announced the up-gradation of District Headquarters Hospital, which would provide better treatment facilities to the rural people at their doorstep.
Referring to the demand for the construction of, underpass in Chichawatni, Jamali assured that he would do his best for the residents of the area.
To another demand regarding provision of gas in certain areas of Sahiwal, the Prime Minister said he would study feasibility and consult Federal Minister for Natural Resources, Nauraiz Shakoor, who also represents Sahiwal in the National Assembly.
Prime Minister Jamali also announced a package of Rs 50 million for Sahiwal and assured special package for the purpose of electricity in the next fiscal budget.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool congratulated the organisers of Horse and Cattle Show. He pointed out that such shows are source of enjoyment, recreation and happiness to the people.
He recalled that Punjab government has allocated a sum of Rs 150 million in current budget for improving health, education and infrastructure in Sahiwal, besides it had launched a Poverty Alleviation Programme to provide relief to the masses.
Federal Minister for Natural Resources, Nauraiz Shakoor in his address paid glowing tributes to the political sagacity and wisdom of Prime Minister Jamali, who established good working relations with the President and resolved the issue of Legal Framework Order (LFO) and finally steered out the nation from political stalemate.
Later, Prime Minister Jamali distributed shields and certificates among the participants of the Horse and Cattle Show.
Sahiwal at the occasion was giving festive look as huge crowd from the nearby areas flocked the site to witness the festival and glimpse of Prime Minister Jamali.
Cows, buffaloes and horses of thorough-breed were displayed at the show, while the livestock department presented a cow and a calf to the Prime Minister Jamali amidst thunderous applause from the participants.
A number of traditional games including tent-pegging, tug of war, folk dance were held in addition to passing out parade by the school students on the occasion.
