District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood on Tuesday laid foundation stone of new emergency block at Mian Muhammad Munshi Hospital situated at Band Road, which would be completed at a cost of Rs 18.28 million within one-year.
Besides constructing male and female wards, each comprising of eight beds, two operations theatres, emergency recovery room, nursing stations, lobby and waiting hall would also be constructed in this three-storey building.
Keeping in view the location of this hospital and future requirements, provision for setting up a well-equipped trauma center has also been kept in the building plan.
Mian Amer Mahmood also visited different wards of the hospital and inquired after the health of patients admitted there. Executive District Officer Health Dr Hafiz Abdul Qayum and Medical Superintendent of the Hospital Dr Shafqat Ali also accompanied him on this occasion.
The District Nazim paid rich tribute to the social services of late Mian Muhammad Munshi, the founder of the hospital and impressed upon the philanthropists for emulating him.
He also thanked the NGO, which was incurring an average daily expenditure of Rs 30, 000 for serving free of cost diet to the indoor patients in this 155-bed hospital.
He directed the hospital administration for making arrangements for affiliating a nursing school with this hospital, on the pattern of other district head quarter hospital, with a view to improving standard of patient care.
