More than 100 US-led soldiers backed by 900 Afghan troops are preparing to conduct a "major offensive" against Taleban near the border with Pakistan, an official said on Wednesday.
The offensive follows the recent announcement of a new US-led operation in Afghanistan in the region and as Pakistani troops on Tuesday engaged in bloody battles while scouring their side of border for al Qaeda fighters.
