The immigration staff at the Allama Iqbal International Airport held two South African nationals on the charge of travelling with fake documents and drugs worth millions of rupees.
The spokesman for the FIA Passport Circle, during checking of Gulf Airways flight GF-433 (Lahore-Dubai), on Wednesday night, two South African nationals, Shane John Stewart and Graham Paul, presented their passports at the immigration counter.
Inspector Gull Sanober Khan detected that entry stamps were bogus.
When the 'PICES' record was checked, no entry was registered while Pakistani visa stickers issued were also doubtful.
They were offloaded from the flight, and handed over to the Passport Circle of FIA. Later, an FIR No 264 and 265/2004 was registered under Section Foreigners Act.
The spokesman said Passport Circle Deputy Director Syed Tahsin Anwar Ali constituted a team comprising Assistant Director Ch Mushtaq Ahmed and sub-inspectors Rao Ajmal Farooq and Malik Nasir Zaman to conduct the investigation, during which the accused failed to give any satisfactory reply regarding the purpose of their travel to Pakistan.
Later, the team during search of their luggage found six-kg of heroin concealed in secret compartments of their suitcases. The accused also vomited out the names of their contacts in Pakistan, said the spokesman.
He said that the accused have been handed over to Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigations.
FIA Director (crimes) Dr Tanvir Ahmed has commended the performance of the Passport Circle of FIA and announced rewards for the investigation team.
