Intel imparts computer training to 60,000 teachers

Intel has made the difference in real terms by imparting computer training to 60,000 school teachers in 56 districts across the country in 2003.
As many as 200 teachers, who excelled in technology disintegration and used their skill as an effective tool to teach to their students in unconventional means were awarded here by Intel under its teach to the future programme here on Thursday.
Those who were awarded under 'Intel teach to the future programme' were given big hand by the jam-packed hall in a ceremony held to celebrate the first year success here.
It was a unique gathering in many ways. Each award winner was proud of his profession and wanted to discharge his/her duties with more dedication to make the campaign for quality education a success, knowingly that it was the education, which matters and helps arise any nation to the challenges.
Glittering faces of award winning teachers gave hope to all those who were present, of better future and so of Pakistan.
Ms Shaista of Beacon House School System, Islamabad called learning by integrating technology as the best tool to teach the students.
Her experience was that those students, who had been non-responsive to traditional way of teaching, were actively involved in studies after Intel's innovative programme.
Ms Aisha Azhar again from Beacon House School System was confident of better output from her students, who were lucky to have modern technology for learning.
Ms Irum of Convent School Islamabad called it a great achievement and hoped that it would work to the expectations of its tailors.
The selected group of teachers deserved high respect and honour as their job is to educate the youth of Pakistan whom the Minister for Science and Technology Dr Attaur Rehman rightly called genuine assets to the nation. None has second opinion to the minister's wise uttering that Pakistan can not achieve desired goal of progress and prosperity unless takes full advantage of its human resources.
Dr Attaur Rehman was also casual in his address to the gathering, as being one from their clad knows how to respect and honour teachers. He keeps teachers - spiritual fathers - in high esteem so they deserve, as their profession is noble.
By his promising words, Atta made the award winners and Intel team feel that their good work was fully acknowledged by the government of Pakistan and they would not remain isolated as was the case with the educationists and philanthropists in the past.
Atta extended all out support on behalf of the government to Intel to carry on its computer training programme for the remaining districts of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir to benefit maximum number of teachers. He wanted that Intel competitors should also lend their big hand to the government of Pakistan in imparting quality education to its youth.
Kamil Hasan, Country Manager Intel Pakistan was dubbed by the minister as a moving brain behind the entire idea of teacher training programme. Every one in the show appreciated him.
Inspired by the appreciation, Kamil vowed to continue with his programme to reach to at least another 50,000 teachers for computer training in 2004.
Now it was Kamil Ali Aga's turn. With NWFP traditional turbine at his head and dressed with shalwar suit, Aga's declaration that NWFP government was providing free education up to matriculation, besides putting data on each school of the province on the website was different from what majority was expecting from a Pathan.
He also dispelled the impression that the MMA government was against girls' education by unveiling to the crowd that NWFP government has constituted a commission to workout recommendations to facilitate private and public sector educational institutions for girls' education.
