The elections of the directors of Pakistan-Russia Business Council of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have been set aside by FPCCI President Riaz Ahmed Tata.
According to a circular, issued here on Monday, no reason has been given for setting aside the elections, which were held here earlier this month and the required nine directors were elected unopposed.
The elections were actually first held in February, but since only nine nominations were received as against nine vacancies, the elections were postponed for March.
When the elections were held, the required nine nominations were received and all the candidates automatically got elected un-opposed. The results were, however, not announced officially.
According to insiders, the elections have been set aside because majority of the directors, who have returned unopposed, "do not enjoy the blessings of the FPCCI President."
The elections will now be held on April 20.
