Shanghai copper closed up on Wednesday as the London Metal Exchange recouped heavy losses in overnight trade, boosted by strong fundamentals and shrugging off the threat of geopolitical uncertainty, traders said.
The most active September contract finished 80 yuan higher at 28,850 yuan ($3,486), while most other contracts closed up between 20 and 100 yuan.
Volume dropped to 123,194 lots from Tuesday's 202,358 lots.
Spot copper fell between 60 and 70 yuan to move in a range of between 28,530 yuan and 28,590 yuan per tonne on Wednesday.
Most Shanghai aluminium futures ended down 30 yuan to 100 yuan per tonne on Wednesday as volume rose to 35,128 lots from 28,366 lots on Tuesday.
