Four Iraqi paramilitaries and three armed suspects were killed on Friday during a raid near Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, the US military said.
A military spokeswoman said four other members of the Iraqi Civil Defence Corps were wounded in the incident at around 4 am (0100 GMT). She gave no other details.
US troops and Iraqi security forces regularly raid homes and villages from their base in Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, looking for insurgents fighting the US occupation.
