Indian beauty queen Laxmi Pandit, who was declared first runner-up in Miss India 2004, returned her crown Wednesday saying she was traumatised by allegations that she is married, organisers said.
"She (Pandit) has voluntarily returned the crown," A.P. Parigi, managing director of pageant organisers Times Infotainment told reporters.
"But she has also established the fact that she is not married (through) an affidavit," he added.
Pandit found herself fighting for her crown, which she was awarded at the pageant on Saturday, after claims she was married in breach of competition rules.
Private television channel Aaj Tak said Pandit was married to aspiring model Siddhart Mishra but had hidden her union to enter the contest. Pandit has denied the allegations, but declined to detail her relationship with Mishra.
