Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Ms Nasim Lodhi has directed the Population Welfare Department to accelerate the social mobilisation campaign regarding small-family benefits, and hold seminars and walks at district and tehsil levels.
She was presiding over a meeting attended, among others, by DG Population Welfare Maqbool Ahmed Khan, District Population Welfare officers and other high-ranking officials.
She said that recommendations have been made to extend the scope of family welfare centres in the province from 483 to 900, in order to create awareness among womenfolk of backward and rural areas regarding the importance of the small family.
The minister said new welfare centres would be established at village level, and stressed the need for field officers to invigorate all mobile service units, and submit monthly progress reports in this regard.
