The Lahore High Court issued notice to federal government for April 8, in a petition filed by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif son of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President and former Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, praying to the court to direct the respondent government to delete his name from Exit Control List (ECL).
The petitioner contended that he wanted to go abroad on a business tour but government officials put his name in ECL.
He further contended that his name was placed on ECL illegally and without lawful authority as neither he was involved in any criminal nor political activity.
He said that he was also not wanted to police in any case, but the government officials due to reasons known to them placed his name on ECL.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the government to delete his name from the list and allowed him to go abroad. The court after hearing his counsel at length issued notice to the federal government and rose for the day.
