The website of Sindh Madressatul Islam (SMI) Karachi was launched at a ceremony held at the premises of the institution here on Friday.
The Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Sarfraz Ahmed Syed, performed the launching.
Principal of the institution, Muhammad Ali Shaikh, presented the welcome address.
The website contains the history of Sindh Madressah, profiles of its prominent old students including the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Abdullah Haroon, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Mohammad Ayub Khuhro, Allama I. I. Kazi, A. K. Brohi and others.
There are also profiles of the chairperson of the SMI Board of Governors and Federal Education Minister, Ms Zobaida Jalal and Nisar Effendi and Principal Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarfraz Ahmed said that the Muslims have great contributions in the field of science and education.
He stated that Sindh Madressah being alma mater of the Father of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah occupies a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of Pakistan.
Sarfraz Ahmed pointed out that the development of this institution on scientific grounds is an example for other institutions.
He also appreciated the efforts that are being undertaken by Principal Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
Nisar Ali Effendi, President of Sindh Madressah Board, appreciated the launching of the institution's website. In his address, Muhammad Ali Shaikh said that Sindh Madressah has entered into the cyber age.
