Federal Minister for Communications Senator Babar Khan Ghauri on Sunday inaugurated a flyover at Ghaghar Phattak railway crossing on National Highway (N-5) in Thatta district.
The minister, while speaking at the inaugural ceremony, said the 93 metre-long bridge with 4 lanes (22.9 meters) was completed in three months before scheduled time at the cost of Rs 92.857 million. It has 616 meters long approaches.
The work on the flyover named as 'Sassui Bridge' had started at on August 28, 2002.
He said that he has set up a vigilance cell in Islamabad to supervise the development works in the country under his ministry which would ensure their quality and timely completion.
He said the work on Karachi package announced by President General Pervez Musharraf would formally start from Tuesday with the kicking off the construction work on Landhi-Korangi main road.
The minister urged the people to support the government in its efforts for their socio-economic uplift.
He said President General Pervez Musharraf had an excellent agenda on political, social and economic issues, which could be executed only through people's support and cooperation to the government.
"President Musharraf wants speedy development in the country," he added.
Senator Babar Khan Ghauri assured that being a Federal Minister he would utilise all available resources for the welfare of people of the country irrespective of their political affiliation.
