ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate, Farooq H. Naek on Monday thanked government and people of Iran for their US $ 100 million assistance to ensure relief for flood-affected people in Pakistan.
He was talking to Iranian Majlis Speaker, Ali Larijani in a meeting held in Tehran.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interests and promotion of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran came under discussion.
Farooq Naek deeply appreciated and acknowledged Dr. Ali Akbar Larijani for taking this noble initiative, by arranging this conference, to evince solidarity and support, for the Palestinian brethren, and their just struggle, for independence and separate homeland.
The Chairman Senate emphasized that Pakistan attaches great significance in consolidating the brotherly and cordial relationship with Iran in all key sectors and said people of Pakistan have great love for people of Iran and they pray for success of Iran.
Speaker Larijani said the two neighbouring countries should not allow the terrorist attacks carried out on their common border. He expressed his desire to further promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Chairman Senate said Pakistan would make every effort to improve security along its border with Iran. He also said that Tehran and Islamabad should make more serious efforts to help root out terrorism in the region.
