Muzaffargarh police have arrested two close relatives of a Nazim of Union Council No 34, Gulab Khan Chandia, and their two accomplices on the charge of snatching a motorcycle at gunpoint from a lawyer.
As the robbers were arrested, the concerned police received telephone calls of MNAs, MPAs, Nazimeen and a member of Public Safety Commission to release them. However, ASP Azhar Akram did not yield to their pressure and registered a case against them and recovered the snatched vehicle from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Ijaz Hussain Chandia, son of Abdul Rehman; Muhammad Aslam Chandia, son of Muhammad Bakhsh; Khadim Hussain, son of Ghulam Sarwar; and Ghulam Hussain, son of Zulfikar Shah.
" We have arrested four robbers on receiving information of motorcycle snatching at an unmanned level-crossing and recovered arms and the stolen motorcycle (ML-8463) and we did not accept any pressure and 'sifarish' of any influential person in this regard," said ASP City Circle Azhar Akram.
Meanwhile, Anjuman Tajiran, Multan said that the police have taken a bold step by arresting the influential robbers, who always escaped arrest due to the pressure of the elected representatives.
