Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has criticised Pakistani bowlers and said they lack match fitness and disappointed the public with their listless bowling during the on-going Indian tour.
"We have the best pace battery but, surprisingly, our strike bowlers lack fitness and seem to be struggling", he said in an interview to a private sports TV channel on Tuesday.
The former bowling wizard said Shoaib Akhtar is also facing problems with his bowling run-up and that is why he has not been effective in the recent matches.
He also expressed his surprise over Muhammad Sami's performance and said he conceded 117 runs in 23 overs during the first innings in the Lahore test match and said, "it is far below the performance of a bowler who is full of qualities".
"Sami has pace but he is not using his talent to achieve the desired results", he said, adding that, "both Shoaib and Sami are not bowling with good line and length and they have so tar proved disastrous because the type of bowlers they are, they could demolish world's top batting line", he said.
The former all-rounder appreciated Umer Gul's performance and said that he is an impressive up-coming pace bowler. "Gul can be more effective on English wickets and he throws tidy bowls with accurate line and length", he said.
