Justice Muhammad Moosa K Laghari of Sindh High Court on Friday issued notice to Afaq Ahmed, Chairman Mohajir Quami Movement Haqiqi (MQM-H) for May 3, 2004 in lawsuit against industrialist.
MQM's chairman claimed Rs 10 crore as compensation in his lawsuit filed against Farooq Soomer, a managing director of Farooq Textile Mills who alleged plaintiff and its party activists for extortion in press conference on May 3, 1995.
It was submitted by plaintiff that defendant, through its baseless and malafide allegations, harmed the reputation of plaintiff and its party.
When the matter was taken up on Friday the court was told by Afaq's counsel Khawaja Shamsul Islam that plaintiff has been arrested in some criminal cases and could not appear before court.
The court while adjourning the matter for May 3, 2004 directed office to issue notice to plaintiff through jail authorities.
