Residents of Karachi have become extremely careful in letting in meter readers of the KESC following the reported robbery committed by persons posing as KESC meter readers who deprived a family in Gulshan-e-Iqbal of cash, ornaments and motorcar, reports UPP correspondent.
Housewives in the areas Clifton and DHA have suggested that the meter readers of the KESC must wear the company's uniform and should have their identity cards pinned to their dress and if any housewife wishes to check up the number and its veracity, the telephone number of responsible officer in the KESC should also be given.
These measures would help in eliminating to a great extent any possibility of fraud or misuse.
The meter readers of the KESC in all the areas of Karachi are generally without any official dress and there is reportedly no dress code for them.
