Interactive Resource Centre has been formed with an initiative to explore new avenues for community mobilisation and awareness in order to assist people in their struggle to retrieve collective power and strength.
The issues pertaining to gender, political education, minority rights, education etc are addressed by IRC using interactive theatre techniques.
IRC is striving for development and human rights struggle of marginalised communities in Pakistan.
IRC has organised interactive theatre workshops and performances in more than 87 districts of the country.
Fifty theatre groups have been formed and more than six hundred performances were made in the last three years.
The IRC has announced a theatre festival "Journey through the lives of courageous women". Highlights of the festival are the success stories of the courageous women who had struggled and succeeded. Showing these stories to a large audience, it will encourage the women and also break the stereotypes. During the festival, stage theatre performances on Peace, Hudood Ordinance and farmer rights would be presented.
These performances along with debates and discussions will be documented in the form of booklet and VCDs for wider dissemination among NGOs, CBOs and other civil society organisations.
IRC is assisted in "Gender Equality Project" by Women development organisation Rajanpur, Bargad, Gujranwala, Meriman Shelter Home, Kohat, Citizen Action committee, Kohat, Sarhad Rural development programme and Kook theatre group, Haripur.
