All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has welcomed the government decision to induct textile ministers in federal and Punjab cabinets to take care of this important sector of the economy.
The Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali announced the decision at a meeting in Faisalabad on Sunday.
"The creation of a separate textile ministry has been our long standing demand," Aptma Punjab chief, Arif Saeed told newsman here on Monday. A ministry at the federal level and a department in the Punjab would help the government understand irritants faced by the textile sector, especially those of regulatory nature.
The LCCI President, Mian Anjum Nisar said that the creation of a separate ministry for this sector would help the country exploit the comparative advantage in the agro-based industry in the post-WTO scenario.
