The Hub Power Company, Pakistan's largest non-state utility, said it will report third-quarter earnings on April 22, after seeking its board approval.
The Hubco board will not consider an interim dividend for the three months ended March 31, the company said, in a faxed statement to the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE).
Analysts expected that the earnings for the third quarter ended March 31, 2004 would range between Rs 1.35 billion and Rs 1.4 billion, as compared with Rs 1.4 billion of the same period a year ago.
The Company's profit fell 10 percent to Rs 2.58 billion in the six months ended December 31, as compared with Rs 2.88 billion. It also declared a dividend of Rs 1.6 rupees a share for the fiscal first half from Rs 3.3 a year earlier.
The Hub Power Company runs a 1,292 mw thermal power plant near the country's financial hub of Karachi. The International Power of the UK owns 20.7 percent of the company.
The shares rose by 20 paisa to Rs 37.75 at the close of the Karachi Stock Exchange on Monday.
