LCCI President Mian Anjum Nisar has said that the US is a major trade partner of Pakistan, but the latter's share in Pakistani market, which is 0.2 percent, is too meagre which needs to be raised.
Inaugurating the USA Water Catalogue Show jointly organised by US Consulate and the LCCI, here on Monday, he said that American companies, putting up their products and services on display here, would find relevance with growing needs of urban society in Pakistan.
Access to clean drinking water remains one of the most important health issues of majority of urban localities, where water-borne diseases like hepatitis, typhoid and intestinal infections threaten the health of people, he added.
Around 30 US companies have put their products on the display. Similar shows will be organised in Karachi and Peshawar, said Tariq Saeed, the Official of the US and Foreign Commercial Service.
Political/economic officer, US consulate, Lahore Ms. Deborah Grout said that the USA and Pakistan should work together to enhance volume of the two-way trade between the two states.
Pakistan exports to US stand at over US $2.6 billion while Pakistan imports goods worth 840 million from USA. She said that a number of US delegations have visited Pakistan in the recent months which will help enhance US investment in Pakistan that was hampered in the recent past.
