Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council (MPOPC) organised a seminar on 'Trends & Developments in Palm Oil Industry' on Tuesday.
The participants highlighted the role of Malaysian palm oil as the lifeblood of the edible oil industry for the past 25 years and brought out recent developments related to production and pricing to light.
Provincial Minister for Food & Agriculture, Arif Mustafa Jatoi, was chief guest on the occasion. Besides the minister, a large gathering comprising Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) members, quality control authorities, government officials of other related ministries attended the seminar.
Regional Manager, MPOPC, Faisal Iqbal, presented an overview of oils and fats industry in Pakistan, while Marketing Head, MPOPC, Faudzy Asrafudeen, read a paper on overview of palm oil market.
Technical Marketing Head, Dr C.S. Koh, and Chairman PVMA, Mian Muhammad Ibrahim, also spoke on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council is engaged world-wide in the activities for the promotion of palm oil.
The objective of the activities is to create awareness about the core function, health benefits and to update trade and industry about the recent developments in Malaysian palm oil industry.
In this context, a Malaysian delegation headed by Yong Chin Fatt, Chairman, Regional Market Committee of South Asia, along with leading members of palm oil industry and Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council, is visiting Pakistan nowadays.
The delegation is holding seminars with trade and industry, government officials, health experts etc and Tuesday's seminar was a part of the same series.-PR
