The 45th Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Labour Administration and Industrial Welfare started at the National Institute of Public Administration here on Tuesday.
Syed Hakim Ali Shah Bukhari, Director General NILAT presided over the course inaugural ceremony.
In his presidential address Bukhari said that Industrial Relations System of Pakistan is working with the support of labour legislation and consultation of tripartite bodies of employers, workers and government.
A major concern of business today, he said, is the need to have flexibility in its operations, particularly in respect of deployment and utilisation of its work force so that it can respond actively to the changing circumstances in the market.
Bukhari said that NILAT has played an effective and positive role in creating industrial peace in the country by providing training to over 64,000 persons.
NILAT has a rich tradition of around 48 years of distinguished service in the field of Labour Administration, Industrial Relations, Collective Bargaining, Labour Legislation, health and safety and many other labour related subjects, he added.
Syed Ghayorul Hassan, Noorul Hadi, Mohammad Anwar Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
Fifty participants from different employers and worker's organisations, public and private sector organisations, multinational companies and some fresh graduates are attending the course.
