Plans are on the anvil to bring far-flung and remote areas under Railway network so that cheap and safe transport facilities could be provided to people living in these areas.
This was stated by Sardar Tufail Ahmed Khan, chairman, National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways, while presiding over a meeting here on Monday.
He as well as the members of the Standing Committee took keen interest in the development project of the Railway being taken for the welfare of the employees, says a handout issued here on Monday.
Pakistan Railways Chairman/ Secretary Khurshid Ahmad Khan briefed the members of the NA standing committee about the financial conditions of the Railways.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Ishaq Ahmad Khan Khakwani, Muhammad Saeed Virk, Syed Gulzar Sibtain Shah, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Mrs Shehnaz Naseem, Muhammad Anwar Bhutto, Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik, and Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi.
The committee discussed the feasibility report on the provision of Railway facilities to Gwadar Port in Balochistan.
It was of the unanimous view that all the macro and micro aspects of the project should be considered in detail, as the project was of strategic importance for the country.
