The linkage between technical & professional education and industry would help promote the modern style and new thoughts for furthering the cause of knowledge and technology.
This was stated by provincial minister for Forest, Dr Ashfaqur Rehman, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of industrial exhibition and technology fair in Government College University here on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Asif lqbal, Registrar Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad, Professor Akram Bhatti, other members of Faculty male/female students and representatives of different industrial and telecommunication organisations were also present on this occasion.
The provincial minister said that along with the education and research at university level the exhibition of different products of industry and technology would enhance the urge for education among the students and by giving the information about the local requirements in textile, trade and the field of commerce the university would mould its teaching structure of science and technology for providing the required number of experts for the industrial sector so that a lot of expert students could be prepared for the industrial sector.
In this way, they would not only be able to get employment immediately but would also be able to utilise their skill and knowledge for the district as well as national development.
The Provincial minister said that the promotion of knowledge was among the top-most priorities of the present government and numberless facilities were being provided for higher education.
He said that the government was encouraging the investment in private sector so that the industry could flourish and maximum possible opportunities of employment could be created.
He termed the continuity of holding the industrial exhibition and technology fair as an appreciable step and said that it would help expand the scope of education of science and technology in the University from which not only local but also the students of surrounding districts would be benefited.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Asif lqbal said that the objective of holding such sort of exhibitions was to enhance the linkage between knowledge and skill so that the students could take interest in getting command over the latest technology and get themselves prepared for the best career.
Congratulating the members and male/female students of the concerned faculty he said that despite the problems of different nature they had arranged the second Industrial Exhibition and Technology Fair in a successful manner.
Professor Akram Bhatti said that this exhibition would create technical know-how among the students and help create modern experts in accordance with the local, national and international industrial requirements.
Later, provincial minister witnessed the stalls of different industrial and telecommunication organisations set up in the exhibition.
