Local children belonging to different segments of the society will hold a meeting with the Sindh Assembly Speaker, Syed Muzaffar Hussein Shah and other MPAs at the provincial assembly building here on Saturday.
On the occasion these children would make brief presentations highlighting significance of the goal of primary education for all children and their right to quality education.
They would also discuss problems with particular reference to their opportunities for education. Prior to that they along with other children will hold a peaceful demonstration.
The event being organised by Human Rights for Education is part of the ongoing Global Action Week, which commenced on April 19 and would continue till April 25.
The week has been declared so by the World Education Forum during which activities will be held in more than one hundred countries throughout the world to raise quality of education for children.
The campaign further focuses on creating mass awareness about the importance of Education for All (EFA) by involving highest policy makers, provincial chief ministers and district Nazims in the process.
It may be pertinent to mention that as a follow-up to Dakar World Education Forum held in April 2000, Pakistan had evolved a National Plan of Action on Education for All (2001-2015).
The plan envisages to reach the disadvantaged in rural and urban areas with emphasis on out-of-school and illiterate girls. It also encourages community participation and ownership of basic education programmes at the grassroots level.
