The Consul General of Peoples Republic of China, Sun Chunye on Friday inaugurated two-day China Education Exhibition, being held here at a local hotel from April 23 to 24.
The exhibition was being held jointly by the China Scholarship Council (SCS) and Beijing Cultural Organisation on the directives of Ministry of Higher Education, China, and it was aimed at inviting more Pakistani students to get enrolled at Chinese educational institutions.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Sun Chunye said the exchange of educational delegations, students and ordinary people was a good way to strengthen ties between the two friendly nations.
"Pakistan and China already have cordial and friendly relations with each other but exchange of students would definitely enhance and strengthen these relations", he said adding urged Pakistani students to explore educational opportunities more vigorously.
He informed that China had over 1000 varsities and of them, 100 were recognised internationally, which offered majority of courses in English language for foreign students studying there.
"There are already 600 Pakistani students at our varsities besides a large number of students from other countries and nations as well. We have calm, peaceful and conducive environment at our educational institutions" he added.
Leader of the Chinese delegation visiting Pakistan, Yang Xinyu presented a brief introduction of the Chinese Universities and postgraduate education at Chinese educational institutions, which was offered in English.
"We are here to introduce our educational institutions our Pakistani friends, as we believe that we offer cheap and quality education and want Pakistanis to send their children to China for professional and higher education" she maintained.
She also urged Pakistanis to learn Chinese language to understand each other and have sincere and closer relations.
A 31-member Chinese educational delegation, representing high-ranking officials from ministry of the higher education of China and public relation officers from top-20 Universities are currently visiting Pakistan to pursue government to send students to China for higher education.
A large of students from local educational institutions, some of them accompanied by their parents visited the China Education Exhibition and inquired about courses offered by Chinese varsities, medium of instruction, fee, boarding and lodging arrangements and other related issues.
Dean, Faculty of Engineering NED University of engineering of Technology S. F. A Rafiqui also spoke on the occasion.
The Senator, Nisar A. Memon had to inaugurate the exhibition but owing to some unavoidable circumstances, he could not arrive at Karachi from Islamabad, organisers said.
