Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro has urged the private sector entrepreneurs to come forward and supplement the government efforts in making national development.
He was speaking at a dinner meeting of the Pakistan-German Business Forum at a local hotel on Saturday.
The senate chairman pointed out that the recruitment to the government jobs is now being made-on the basis of merit and keeping in view the abilities and capabilities of the candidates.
He also highlighted the role of the Human Development Commission towards the development of the requisite capabilities.
He was of the view that the quality of the manpower was important in order to make headway.
The technology and computer-friendly persons are in demand. He also highlighted the significance of the foreign investment towards the process of economic development and said that for a conducive environment to this effect all the necessary requirements such as infrastructure, trained manpower, necessary incentives are equally important.
The senate chairman opined that we should prepare ourselves to meet the challenges and opportunities in the wake of WTO regime.
On the occasion he also replied a number of questions posed by the members of the Pakistan-German Business Forum.
To a question, he said that the completion of the Gwadar deep seaport would not only spur trade and commercial activities but would also develop industrial activities as well as tourism etc.
