"Primary education is the base of the entire education system and without improvement at that level no substantial breakthrough can be achieved in the sector as a whole."
This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in a meeting held here on Sunday in connection with improvement in educational system.
Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, head of PML-Q, Federal Education Minister Zubaida Jalal, Federal Secretary Education Shafqat Aizdi Shah and others were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that provincial government, keeping in view the importance of primary education, was giving top priority to training of teachers of that level.
He said that provincial government was making efforts to reorganise Punjab Education Foundation in the province. An amount of Rs 1 billion has been allocated for this purpose. Law in this connection would be presented in Punjab Assembly, he added.
PML-Q President said that without a visible improvement in education sector no substantial change could be brought in economic and social sectors in the country.
Zubaida Jalal said that other provinces could take guidance from steps in educational sector being taken in Punjab.
