Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Home, Aftab Ahmed Sheikh, has taken serious notice of loss of human lives in road accidents in the city and directed the traffic police to take concrete measures to control the situation.
The Adviser issued the directive to DIG Traffic Mohammad Yameen Khan at a meeting here on Wednesday.
Aftab said that the graph of traffic accidents in the city was rising and taking an alarming proportion.
He said those playing with the lives of innocent citizens deserve no sympathy and it is the responsibility of traffic police to check those involved in rash driving, untrained and without licence, and under-age drivers.
"If traffic police cannot fulfil its responsibilities, then they are equally responsible for traffic accidents," he said.
He issued the directive when a woman met him with her five children and sought justice.
She informed the Adviser that her husband was crushed to death by a speeding truck and its driver was arrested on his directive.
She told the Adviser that after the death of her husband there is now no bread earner for her family.
