Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Syed Shakir Ali has called upon private schools to play their due role in the elimination of illiteracy from the country.
He said that a collective effort was needed to promote literacy' in the province as well as the country.
He invited private schools to play their role in the promotion of literacy in the province along with the government schools.
"We have to play a vital role as a nation to eliminate, illiteracy and the private schools have to supplement the government's efforts along with the government schools," Shakir Ali while speaking at the annual prize distribution of The Country School at a local auditorium here on Wednesday.
General Ghulam Mohammad Umer (Retd) and chief administrator of the school Mrs Sabiha Farooqui were also present on the occasion.
The minister also called for incorporating advanced studies in the syllabus for entering in the ranks of advanced nations.
General Umer underlined the need to promote education with the missionary spirit.
Mrs Farooqui highlighted the performance of students in various examinations and said that Cambridge system was providing quality education to students.
