ISLAMABAD: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said the government will observe maximum restraint during sit-in of Pakistan Awami Tehreek in Lahore on June 17.
Speaking in a private news channel, the Law Minister said, clear instructions have been issued to city administration that no violence should be committed during demonstration of PAT. "Local administration is constant contact with PAT leadership and is also cooperating with them in arrangements."
He said the administration has also been directed to take all security measures for Dr Qadri in view of threats to his life by the extremist groups.
Answering a question about last year incident at Minhaj-ul-Quran, the minister said, that incident should be seen in broader perspective as to whether it was one sided on two-way.
At that time also there were reports that the PAT had planned a long march, therefore the administration was asked to remove the barriers, he added.
When asked about barriers at residences of some political leaders in Lahore, he said, the administration has the right to erect barriers anywhere for security purposes but no persons or an organization has legal right to place barriers in streets or in front of their residences.
