The Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain on Saturday said the United States has appreciated excellent co-operation extended by Pakistan in the war against terrorism.
He was talking to newsmen at Islamabad International Airport after returning from an eight-day tour of the United States and Mexico.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that during the visit he held meetings with Senators, Congressmen and senior officials of the State Department and White House including Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Ms Christina Rocca.
During these meetings, Pak-US relations and matters of bilateral concern came under discussion, he added.
The Senators, Congressmen and Statement Department Officials were appreciative of Pakistan's role in the global war against terrorism, the NA speaker said. They also appreciated the "immense courage and determined co-operation" extended by President Musharraf in this regard, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain apprised them about improvement of relations with India and the resumption of dialogue process between the two sides.
Responding to a question, he said, "Pakistan wants to resolve Kashmir issue in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people for a lasting peace in South Asia."
The Speaker also held meetings with Pakistani community in Washington and New York.
He briefed them about improved law and order situation, excellent investment climate and smooth functioning of democratic process in the country.
Talking about participation in the Conference of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Mexico, he said that he apprised the members about functioning of parliament in Pakistan.
