Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (Piaf) has strongly flayed the fresh increase in price of petroleum products and urged the Government to withdraw powers of the advisory committee to raise oil prices and get ratified every decision affecting general public from the parliament.
In a joint statement issued here on Saturday, Piaf Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Lahore Chamber of Commerce Industry (LCCI) Executive Committee member Mubashar Sheikh and Lahore Township Industries Association (Ltia) former Chief Mian Abuzar Shad said that twice increase in the prices of petroleum products in a month would make it unbearable for the masses and the industry as well as render industrial and agricultural input too high.
It might also result in increase in the transport charges for the ordinary passengers, the pointed out.
They further said that business community has also appealed to the Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and Industries Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi for withdrawal of the fresh raise in price of petroleum products.
"If the government is helpless against oil advisory committee then it should withdraw taxes levied on petrol to provide relief to the common man and industrial sector," they demanded.
