The Union of Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has received invitation from World Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (Wasme) to visit India with a delegation of SMEs of Pakistan to promote trade and goodwill between the SME sectors of the two countries.
According to a spokesman of Unisame, the host has asked for the profile of the delegation, their specific business interest and number of SMEs who would accompany the delegation. Looking forward to the visit of the delegation, the host said "India is a free market and as such all commodities are allowed to be imported and exported freely."
Wasme has promised to arrange appointments with the new minister for SMEs to be appointed in the cabinet and other senior officials of SME authorities.
Zulfikar Thaver, Convener Unisame has accepted the invitation and has acknowledged the fact that the delegation would promote trade and goodwill between the two countries and asked SME colleagues to prepare for the visit.
He said that imports from India would be economical because of less freight but he added, likewise India should also import items from Pakistan on reciprocal basis.
There are many items, which are feasible and import and export trade can be increased between India and Pakistan and both the trading partners must work in this direction.
Meantime many trade bodies have shown interest in accompanying Unisame members and are requesting Unisame to arrange visit during India International Fair 2004 in New Delhi.
Unisame has requested the ministry of commerce (MoC) to insist on barter type trade whereby imports and exports from either country should be uniform and the balance of trade can be maintained for equal benefits of both the countries.
