Excise and Taxation officers have been directed (ETOs) to expedite their efforts for recovering the government taxes so that the set targets could be achieved well in time and the additional money collected be used for the welfare of the people in the province.
The direction was made by Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Advocate Fazli Rabbani, while chairing a meeting of all the ETOs of the province at Akbar Bagh Shehbaz Garhi Mardan.
Excise department Secretary, Khalid Hussain Gilani also addressed the meeting.
The meeting reviewed at length the recovery situation at district level, and the districts that could not show better performance were directed to make up their deficiencies and try to achieve the requisite targets during the current month at all cost.
Excise Secretary asked the ETOs to furnish daily and weekly progress reports to his office so that the recovery position was supervised.
He also urged them to pinpoint those, showing lethargic attitude in performing of their duties, so that disciplinary action could be taken against them.
Speaking on the occasion, Excise Minister Advocate Fazli Rabbani appreciated the over all performance of the department saying that about 120 million rupees increase had been reordered in revenue collection as compared to the previous year, which was commendable.
Fazli Rabbani eulogised the best performance of ETO Mardan, Haji Shafee and his staff for not only achieving the targets, but also recovering 0.6 million more than the set target.
He said that employees with best performance would be honoured and awarded
He hoped that other districts would follow suit.
