The nurses have neither been awarded due status nor any incentives have been given to them in their service structure.
These views were expressed by Principal Professor of Postgraduate Medical Institute and chief of Lahore General Hospital, Professor Dr Syed Ali Ajwad Shah while addressing a function organised in connection with 'World Nurses Day' here on Thursday.
It is a proven fact the nurses are playing a vital role at par with the doctors in providing healthcare facilities to them but unfortunately they have not been given due respect and honour which they deserve, he added.
However, he said, government is taking necessary steps for raising their living standard. Besides, ample opportunities are available for nurses in employment and education up to the level of post-graduation, he maintained.
Principal of Nursing School Aziz Gul urged womenfolk to adopt nursing profession for serving the ailing humanity.
