The first ever video conference on Islamic Banking was held at State Bank of Pakistan on Monday.

The first ever video conference on Islamic Banking was held at State Bank of Pakistan on Monday.
Dr Tariqullah Khan, Senior Economist, Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), Islamic Development Bank, made a presentation on the 'Principles of Islamic Finance' from Jeddah.
Dr Khan's presentation covered Islamic financial regulations, principles of Islamic finance and recent applications of these principles, particularly in the form of Sukuk, Shariah complaint certificates of investment. Every part of the presentation was followed by a question and answer session.
The presentation was delivered through the Distance Learning Centre (DLC) of IDB, which is linked to the Global Development Learning Network of the World Bank. The conference was viewed simultaneously at Karachi, Islamabad and Kuala Lumpur.
From the State Bank of Pakistan Pervez Said, Director of the Islamic Banking Department, conducted the conference.
Officers of the State Bank, a large number of commercial bankers who are either conducting Islamic banking or planning to start this emerging business in the new future and members of an accounting firm currently planning to conduct Shariah Audit of an Islamic Bank in Pakistan participated in the conference.
