The Governor of Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has asked upon Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), Saarc and Organisation of African countries that they instead of depending on help of developed countries should endeavour to develop economic relations with Asean group of nations for contributing towards economic betterment of poor of the third world.
Punjab Governor stated this in meeting with training diplomats of African as well as Asean countries here on Thursday.
Khalid Maqbool stressing upon the need for a collective endeavour for fight against poverty, disease, and ignorance said that all the countries belonging to Asean including Pakistan had a firm belief that in resolution of their dispute in a just way, would ultimately result in promotion of peace in the region.
Appreciating visionary leadership of President Pervaiz Musharraf, the Governor stated that it had resulted in ushering of new economic horizon in the country. Governor told the diplomats of potential Pakistan possessed in the sectors of Oil & Gas Exploration, Telecommunication, Engineering goods, Electrical Appliances and Housing sector on the occasion.
