Over Rs 83 million approved for deserving students

The meeting of the Apex Committee for Students Interest-Free Loan Scheme has approved over Rs 83 million for deserving students.
The committee, comprising presidents of five major banks viz NBP, HBL, UBL, MCB and ABL and deputy secretary Ministry of Finance, held a meeting under the chairmanship of deputy governor State Bank on Friday to discuss the matter. The committee approved Rs 83.26 million to 1,192 deserving students in different disciplines all over the country for graduation, masters, and PhD studies.
"The National Bank of Pakistan, being the administrator of the scheme, will invite loan applications for the next academic session in September 2004," said a release issued by the SBP.
