China on Friday discharged its last Sars patient following the country's latest outbreak, although she will remain in a general hospital with other illnesses, state media said.
The 49-year-old retired doctor surnamed Zhang was released from isolation at Beijing's Ditan Hospital, according to the Xinhua news agency.
She will need further medical treatment for illnesses she had prior to her SARS infection, the agency reported.
The World Health Organisation Tuesday declared the most recent SARS outbreak in China contained, saying in a statement the chain of human-to-human transmission appeared to have been broken.
So far nine people, all linked to a virology institute in Beijing, have been confirmed as having SARS, including one who later died.
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome last year caused almost 800 deaths world-wide from some 8,000 infections.
