The Nazim of City District Government Karachi, Naimatullah Khan on Sunday expressed grief and sorrow over murder of the noted religious scholar Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai and termed it a loss of Muslims Ummah.
According to a CDGK statement, Naimatullah said Mufti Shamzai was an asset of Muslim Ummah and his killing in a broad daylight was a well-thought conspiracy of anti-Islamic forces.
On hearing the news about the incident in the morning, the Nazim reached at the Liaquat National Hospital and inquired health of injured Saleemuddin (Shamzai's son), his nephew, driver and a student of the Mufti.
On the occasion, Naimatullah offered his condoled to son of Mufti Shamzai and said the entire city has condemned the incident
He underlined the need to review the performance of law enforcement and intelligence agencies because due to frequent incidents of terrorism in Karachi the insecurity feelings are increasing among people. Meanwhile, the City Nazim also visited Darul Uloom Binori Town and appealed to the Ulema, teachers and students to show patience and be careful.
He also spoke with Maulana Saeed Ahmed Jalalpuri, Qari Mohammad Iqbal and Maulana Iftikhar Ahmed and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, the City Nazim ordered postponement of the examinations for appointment of primary school teachers.
