Federal Minister for Education and Chief Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Mrs Zobaida Jalal has underscored the need to accelerate the scout movement.
Addressing scout leaders and under-15 (Sharjah) team at PIA Scouts Centre and Cricket Academy here on Saturday, the Federal Minister also appreciated PIA Boy Scouts Association's endeavour for providing recreation to children and maximum facilities for recreation and sports in and outside the country.
In recognition of the services of PIA's chairman and its Chief Scout Chaudhry Ahmed Saeed the minister announced conferment of the highest scouting honour the Silver Camel for him.
Zobaida Jalal also announced a grant of Rs 6000,000 for the construction of PIA scouts hostel, fitness centre, swimming pool and other recreational facilities and a separate grant of Rs 0.5 million for the construction of Scout Unit Dean in SOS village patronised by PIA.
Provincial Scouts Commissioner Ghazanfar Mashkoor, deputy provincial commissioners, provincial and district secretaries earlier welcomed the chief guest.
The Provincial Commissioner presented a souvenir to the chief guest.
National Secretary Pakistan Boy Scouts Qazi Zahoor-ul-Hasan, Commissioner Sindh Scout Ghulam Ali Pasha, Colonel Ali Shah (Retd), Raees Alvi, Director SOS village Zahida Hashmi and other office bearers, were present.
The Jamboree Team of PIA presented folk dances of the four provinces. SOS village and Aga Khan Scouts also participated in the event.
The chief guest presented certificates and shields to all participants of the jamboree on conclusion.
