The Secretary General Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and opposition leader in National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has given a countrywide strike call on Friday in protest against the assassination of renowned scholar Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai.
He appealed to the people to keep shut their business voluntarily to prove that they are against the genocide of religious scholars, and would make the country a cradle of peace by foiling all conspiracies of anti-Islam forces.
Besides, the MMA central leader announced to hold a protest demonstration in Karachi on June 11, in which central leaders of the alliance and renowned religious scholars of the country would announce the future course of action.
Meanwhile, Maulana Fazlur Rehman went to the house of deceased scholar and expressed condolence with his sons and brother Dr Azizuddin. Chief Minister NWFP, Akram Khan Durrani also accompanied him.
Expressing his grief, Fazlur Rehman said that the main objective of renowned scholar's assassination was to put the moderate people on the way of extremism, it is a conspiracy against religious forces. He said that thousands of Mufti Nizamuddin would evolve from every drop of Mufti Saheb's blood.
Expressing condolence with the deceased family, Chief Minister NWFP, Akram Khan Durrani said that the assassination of Mufti Shamzai was not only the loss of Karachi but for entire Islamic world, and NWFP specially was affected from it as the martyr hailed from that province and thousands of his pupils and followers were spread all over NWFP.
He said that complete strike would be observed in NWFP on Friday in protest against the assassination of Mufti Shamzai.
On the occasion, he announced Rs 50,000 for each injured.
MMA leaders, Qari Usman, MPA Maulana Omar Sadiq, Maulana Syed Himadullah Shah, Mufti Mohammad Jamil Khan, Maulana Saeed Mohammad Jalalpuri and others were also present on the occasion.
